Mafia: Definitive Edition

There's Absolutely No Game Like It

I feel this game perfectly captures how I remember playing the game when I was a youngster with the phenominally done setting and the absolutely breath taking graphics. There's absolutely no other game like it. The vehicles, the characters and the styles, the story, the gameplay... All are so beautifully done. I feel like there was lots of respect to the original when doing this remake as well considering they could've easily modernized it, removing the seperate open world and story, and made it just like any other open world gangster-them-up but they didn't... They kept it true to the original, letting you have more of a Movie type playthrough or letting you exit out and go mess about in the open world... Not to mention the difficulty levels (and amount of settings for it without there being too many settings and overloading you). It feels so nice to have the police watching everything you do, not allowing you to drive like a madman without having to get out and pay a fine or be chased down. If you want a game like GTA or Saints Row that feels a lot more mature, or if you're looking for something to scratch that Mafia-age itch, this game will satisfy that immensely. The ONLY problems I have with the game and why I'm giving it a 4 stars rather than 5 is 2k's launcher, as usual, breaks the game along with this game not being the most optimized which can also cause some sickness/discomfort even for 2 hour sittings (and I don't even get sickness from games typically ever) The game has NO working fullscreen option as if you launch in fullscreen, the video will be completely frozen. You HAVE to use the launcher, set fullscreen to off, then load into the game and set Window Borders to off (which turns on Borderless Window). This means though, anybody who has a monitor with a higher resolution than they play games in will have lots of fun with the annoyance of changing your desktop resolution to the game resolution then changing it back once done gaming...

Fallout: London

Ambitious but Disappointing

While I'll admit, it is quite impressive what the team has done with this, creating such an intriquet mod but... It VERY quickly starts to remind you of the fact this is a mod. After getting through the needlessly tedious install (Being a GOG exclusive was unnecessary and just complicates the install more), The opening scene as you awake immediately starts to show the voice acting and balancing between the different voice actors is horrible. The over-arching villain being boomingly loud with a massive echo while far away, meanwhile the two NPCs right next to you being quite quiet and (deliberately) muffled. This type of "audio balance" seems to carry between lots of the other characters making it a very unimmersive experience. Not to mention one of the first world lootable outfits you find.... being a GOG.com t-shirt that just completely took me out. Accompanied by a computer who's first line is "Thank you for downloading this mod!" - This wouldn't be an issue if this room wasn't a dead end that is made to look like the main path to go. This as well seems to be a common theme throughout the mod where game level design seems to be massively lacking with the main pathway to progress typically being unmarked and hard to find. The opening location is an absolute maze with lots of deadends, places to get stuck, etc. It just wasn't well developed on a game level design standpoint. And you only get to experience this if you're lucky enough for it to work. Accompanying the over complicated install, it's made even worse by having many issues of FPS Drops, CTD, and not supporting mods (and causing MORE CTD) that the download page quite literally specifically advertise to work with Fallout London. The fix? Create a discord account and go through their channels in hopes to find troubleshooting... Rather than making it an easy accessible FAQ. Overall this mod isn't worth installing. Hopefully some more experienced modders can make a better product of this or something new.
