Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain has a great (if clunkily delivered) plot with excellent writing and voice acting. You really play this game for the atmosphere and the dialogue. The combat kinda sucks, and more often than not you will be confused where to go next. The variations in gameplay are excellent, however: there is a constant progression loop of finding new spells / equipment / items / transformations that meaningfully impact how you play.
