The game is good but can be really frustrating with its mechanics. It constantly tries to knee cap your progress every step of the way without really giving you breathing room for error. Yes it can be mastered eventually but it is no less frustrating AF and a little bit fun when most of the stuff goes to plan.

...caveats. The AI literally cheats as it knows about everything on any given map and will operate accordingly. This creates a particularly annoying challenge that is partly fun and somtimes very annoying but i have clocked more than 300 hours with it and have been playing it since I was in university when it released so I guess I like this type of punishment. : D

I have played 85+ hours. The game has the potential to be fun but becomes frustrating as you realize that its current mechanics are designed to waste the player's time. This is particularly eggregious when you play the game from singular provinces instead of the kingdom default modes. Every building purchased somehow increases the next building's cost. Each city used to have an 8 building cap until it was recently patched out after many player led discussions complained about it. The AI will find ways to gank a player run through either war declarations or other ways to extort money and resources from the player when they most need it, plus did I mention the ridiculously inflating building prices? It just seems that everything is expensive for no reason than to retard gameplay, this is not fun at all. For some reason the game also hard limits you to 8 council members including your monarch with no other hierarchies to manage kingdom's past a certain size, I do not understand why it has to be this way when a system of delegation would suit such scaling sizes I could go on but until the devs literally revamp the game's mechanics it will remain obscure as an entry with only history buffs liking it for accuracy, other players like myself will probably move on to the next total war title if not already playing crusader kings. So yeah, KoH2 is a decent title that has the potential for greatness but only if the game devs allow it to flourish.
Look, I tried, I REAAAAAAALLY tried ok? But this game sucks, it is held back by it design. This version of the game is BRUTAL HARD. You keep getitng swarmed by the enemy (I played as Surivors) that leave you no time to build an army. Your units are expensive as heck and they get blown up in seconds. The unit pathing is horrific and makes properly deploying your units a complete sh*t show. I wanted to finally play this game as I had it as a kid but couldn't get it to work on my PC (I did not have a discrete graphics card at the time) so I decided to give it a try. Damn shame because underneath it all there is a good game here but it is let down by design mechanics and horrific pathing leading to frustration and little fun. I like a challenge where found, but this is pure torture. Am out.
