I finished Arise on Xbox, so while I can't speak to any technical aspects of the game on PC, I did find the story beautiful, compelling, and ultimately an agonizing experience. This is not a happy game. As I neared the last chapter, I came to believe that the game studio responsible HAD to be European because only someone whose lives were essentially good and upbeat could crave an experience like this. I recommend this to anyone who has told themselves recently, "I need a good cry." Some platforming elements were a little clunky but the game is forgiving enough when you die. There were also some mechanics that I won't spoil here but I also haven't seen done in another title. When I thought they had run out of ideas, another neat mechanic would appear. The developers should be proud of what they accomplished here.

Got this on sale and am really pleased with it. Yes, like the other reviews mention, this is not a mainline XCOM game, but it takes a neat spin on the series and executes it well. The format of the turn system I think is an improvement on the original design. It's definitely more railroady, but for the game it makes sense. Good voice acting, passable story, solid gameplay. If you enjoyed The Bureau, you'll probably like this Xcom spinoff too.

I enjoyed the unique time mechanic alot. Yeah it's got some bugs, in one case game breaking. Luckily that was solved with a reload. Story is passable, albeit predictable. Voice acting is pretty good tho! Also the Auralith, the divine entity that keeps blessing you with new powers, is very well designed. I was really impressed by her. A game like Iron Danger really needs a sequel to explore the time mechanic further. I'd say it's worth wading through some BS to find the fun here, especially if you can get the game for a deep discount.

I should preface by saying I played this on Xbox One and haven't tried it on PC, but I usually stay away from 2d experiences in general but the title being hilarious and the fact that it was free on GamePass pushed me over the ledge, and I'm glad it did. The game took me a few hours to beat, which seems a little light for the $15 price point here on GOG. I think somewhere around $5 is the sweet point to pick this game up at, unless you've really been itching for that top-down Legend of Zelda nostalgia. The combat is simple, and the writing is entertaining. Definitely had a couple of unexpected laugh out loud moments.

I grew up playing HOMM 2 & 3, and Heroes 4 just blew me away. There are some major changes in factions as well as the worldview, and the fact that the creatures have a small area of movement. I had only played the original so I'm pumped to dig into the expansions and check out these campaigns. The music in this game is also just lovely. Jon Van Caneghem!!!! Make another PC game!!!!!
