This game will not, as some of the earlier comments have stated, will not launch for me. I get a quick pop-up of the older Warhammer golden hammer image and it disappears. I am on Windows 10. Have tried administrative mode and every compatibility mode my computer possesses.
I might be the outlier from most of the other reviews, but I really liked this game. However, I am part of that niche players who is a huge Warhammer fan and an avid player of all types of turn-based games. This game is your standard hex-based combat game much in the vein of Panzer Corps and even made by the same Publishers. I would even suggest this game over WH40K Sanctus Reach as it feels like it captures the universe over the cartoonish Santus Reach. While I really like the graphics, it is definitely the type of graphics which strategic players will appreciate. As far as the turn limit, it is not an issue whatsoever, and if you don't like it there are simple console-type commands that can add as many turns as you wish without mods. I've never lost a game to the turn limit (often times I've come down to the last turn) but this fits the idea of an entire planetary invasion, causing dire needs to hurry and accomplish objectives within particular time periods before cities are overrun. This game fits the intesrst of both Warhammer fans or just fans of military, turn based, games. The story line is actually decent for a game which doesn't focus on it, and there is a huge variety of units. There is enough depth within the different unit and weapon types to require careful thought in what unit you engage with others, and having some universe knowledge definitely helps understand which units and weapons work against which enemies. I would say this WH40K game has captured my interest more than any other Warhammer game has since the first Dawn of War. I can't speak for others, but I really enjoyed this game. I got the entire series while on sale for $25, and there is a ton of hours to be put into the game if you go through all the campaigns. However, there is no skirmish, but there are scenarios and a mediocre editor. But in the end, there are few other games where you can literally field any vehicle or infantry unit of Imperial Guard and Space Marines.
I have no problems running this game on Windows 7. I am unsure for other op systems, but I have no difficulties running this game. That aside, this is a great classic for those who enjoy the older titles that require a lot of micromanagement and organization. The interface is clunky, but its style is to be expected with this type of older titles.
