This game may be 5* for others, it is only 3 for us. This isn't as much of a game as it is a "talk to everybody on Earth" simulator. At chapter 4/12 it felt like we've been playing for an eternity already. Old-fashioned, you might say. And that's true - and it should not be a problem (and maybe we are just too impatient). But it takes so much time to finally do something apart from talking, and then the solutions to some problems turn out to be pretty wild considering how much trudging along you have to endure if you don't have a brilliant hunch. The interface does not lessen the frustration-factor either. In this version we have played It takes about 6 clicks on an object till you get the "look-use-talk" tool, and if you look at anything, it will take another 6 more clicks to try and use it. Maybe we will give it another chance later, but it's very unlikely at mom. Unfortunate. Could be a good little game if it was not this time-consuming.
My wife and I are somewhat "veterans" in point-and-click, so we have seen quite a few bad titles already. But we have only lasted about 45 minutes into this one and we are certain that we are not going to continue any further. Ok, a few good points: a lot of work went into designing the look. Characters speak. Haven't encountered any bugs. But. It's slow. It's boring. It's not user-friendly. It's a long walk in huge scenes that contain mostly nothing and what is clickable is not usable and/or uninteresting and/or needs some obscure item that may be obtained from somewhere else, that will "only" take you 15-20 minutes of watching the characters slowly trod throught a lifeless city. This "game" has quickly sapped my willpower to try and find anything that the protagonists need. I hope they save the world eventually, though. And no, you can not sell anything with children and kitten.
Discovered this gem about 10 years late... A pity. As much as I disliked the Runaway series, this one had the total opposite effect on me. Enjoyed every moment of this crazy adventure - even though sometimes the puzzle solutions were quite tough). I wish there were more games with Dan and Liz. This was just great. Kudos to the Spanish guys making this game. They did an incredible job!!! !Mucho respeto!
First of all: if this game was labelled as Lost Horizon 1, it would have been passable and then LH2 (which in fact came first) would have been an even more pleasant experience. If anyone wants to try both games, I strongly suggest starting with this one. Then you would give yourself a chance to experience progressive development. If you have already played LH1, you better not touch this. I find it near incredible how a development team could screw a near perfect game like LH1 like this. I am totally puzzled.
Somewhat on the easy side, but overall very well-executed. The story is fine, the characters are really good (finally!). Especially grateful for the unique puzzle-mechanism in the last chapter, that was great! Way to end an adventure. Can't say a bad thing about it.
American tourists (???) - former chipmunk Nina Kalenkov (?) and the easily and inexplicably irritable Max Gruber (?) -from Berlin (?) defeat a supervillain. Apart from the super annoying voice acting and feeble German attempts at wittiness this is really a fine game that I'd enjoyed it (mostly). This is a classic point-and-click, no more no less, and that's quite OK with me.
