Caveblazers

Fix for error on startup. Game is fun.

After installing, launching the game would crash with an error. To fix it, I had to revert the v1.4.3 In GOG go to the configure options for this game. Disable automatically updates and then select v1.4.3 Higher versions contain the startup bug. Once I was able to play, the game is pretty fun.

No Man's Sky

A Little Perspective

There have been 3 big updates for this game with many improvements and fixes since the original release in Aug 2016 which had lots of problems so old reviews should be taken with skepticism. The developers are still working hard on this game and from what I can see they are trying, fairly successfully, to make amends for the circus that was the original release. +0.5 stars for customer loyalty. Performance: 3/5 I'm a computer expert, software engineer and play a LOT of games. This is THE MOST technically demanding game I have ever played! It does work as expected though. At release, there were some real problems that have since been fixed but most of the reviews giving this game bad ratings because of performance is because their machine isn't adequate. -1 star because many machines simply will not be able to run this game. -1 star because this game is clearly a port to PC and not optimized as well as it should be. Gameplay: 3/5 Meh. I actually kinda like it. it's addictive but I can't say it really feels like a 'game'. It's hard to nail down how to summarize this thing. If you like sim city or minecraft you might enjoy this. With v1.3, they have made some big improvements, adding missions and a 30hr campaign so +1 star but it still all feels like an afterthought. Way too much grinding though. Art: 5/5 The universe is stylized. If you can except that and appreciate the artistic style and the fact that almost everything in this game is computer generated, it's quite impressive. Music/Audio: 5/5 Even the music is computer generated (at least partly). It's always different. Pretty cool! It sounds great too, if you like techno (I do). UI/UX: 1/5 I hate half-arsed ports. There is a reason I buy games for PC instead of consoles and that is because I don't like the console experience. Minimal effort has been invested to make this game work on PC. On a separate note, even for a console game, the UI is HORRIBLE and buggy. They should fire the UI guy.
