GRIS

Some hardware issues

The game is great. It deserves for 5. It is not only game-art, but also enjoyable platformer (in some elements like blowing bird not so easy). But I was close not to finishe it. After falling from very high to a new area Gris would just hover for ages above the ground with the fall animation still going. And I couldn't move. Controls didn't work. I thought that I did something wrong, so I minimalized game on taskbar and took a look on Internet. When I backed to the game, Gris was standing on the ground and controls worked. It was strange, but it worked. Till the time. In area with brick-man when we both were falling down and in the end Gris hovered, I used my trick (minimalized game and then back - just 2 clicks). But the brick-man just dissapeared. I made a few moves with Gris and the screen just freezed. Nothing was working, even Esc. In the gameplay walkthrough on Internet I saw that there sholud be cutscene with brick-man. But, man, brick-man left me few seconds earlier without farrewell. I found solution at Steam community (thanks to Armig0s). The link is below: https://steamcommunity.com/app/683320/discussions/0/1795152172930032054/ I disabled NVIDIA G-SYNC, but it didn't help. Then I decreased refresh rate from 360Hz to 144Hz. Then it helped (with G-SYNC still disabled, I didn't change it). After falling from very high Gris was moving.

Papetura

The Art

It is game created by one man - Tomasz Ostafin from Poland, with a little help from Tomas Dvorak from Czech Republic (music). Papetura is similar in style to Amanita Design games. If you like Samorost series or Machinarium you will also enjoy Papetura. Yes, Papetura is quite simple point and click, simpler than Samorost or Machinarium (and more logic in that way), but this is Art by big A. The whole world is handmade from paper and it took Ostafin many years. The atmosphere is great. Just relax, click slowly, watch and enjoy.

Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Heart of the Forest

Tabletop RPG experience

It's WoD, so that's the first plus. There aren't many games about werewolves, so that's the second plus (The Wolf Among Us is another game on GOG). The art style is beautiful and dark. Initial impressions aren't that obvious, but believe me, the graphics fit the gameplay very well. The graphics aren't static. They shake and some on-screen elements move. Combined with the haunting ambient music and excellent sounds, the game is atmospheric and immersive. You can smell the air, hear the rustle of the leaves. The character sheet is a great addition that's constantly changing. So what's the downside? Some of the last graphics are mediocre. While the story is good, for my taste there's too much politics. PS At the end there is one of two songs that game chooses for your path. For me it was stunning "Vaukalak" by belarusian Irdorath. The band was imprisoned by depraved belarusian government for fighting for freedom. Freedom for Irdorath. Freedom for Belarus. Freedom for Ukraine.

Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition

Cyberpunk iconic

I'm playing it for a first time in 2022. I'm in the middle. And it is mind-blowing. To be honest I try to play Deus Ex years ago. Just after release in 2001 or 2002. But then I've had weak PC and the game was cutting even on low settings. My English was worst than now and I didn't use Internet. Years ago I preferred fantasy setting than SF or cyberpunk. The gameplay seemed to me difficult and the story complicated. All these things together made I didn't like Deus Ex. Now 20 years later game requirements are funny. My English is better, I have Google Translator on my hand. I'm more computerized and I like and appreciate SF/cyberpunk (but fantasy still has first place in my heart). The gameplay seems to me perfect and the story engaging. All these things together made I adore Deus Ex.

Haven Soundtrack

French electronic music

France, you've got Jean-Michel Jarre, you've got Air, you've got Daft Punk and you've got Danger. You set the directions. MP3 quality of Haven Soundtrack on GOG is top - 320 kbps (album size 209 MB). Enjoy!

CHUCHEL

Funny, stupid game

Of course stupid in positive way. Like others have written - this is great game for kids. I think that in this category Chuchel deserves for 5 stars. On the other side, if you are adult, it won't stun you. And in this category Chuchel deserves for 3 stars. So the average is 4 stars. The game is short and abstract. Chuchel behaves and gives sounds like child. And what to the color... It really doesn't matter.

The Wolf Among Us

It's a game-movie

Really good if you know what to expect. It's more a movie than a game. But in a game-movie category this is top. It's like empowered visual novel. You should like storytelling. If you don't - you would be dissapointed and you will write that this is not a game and give it 3 or less stars. And it won't be fair. The art style is great, the music is great (amazing intro), the story is great, the characters are great. What do you want more? The main character... Bigby is so cool that there is not enough words to say it. Just play and watch. He's like Clint Eastwood in his best roles. Bigby, can I count on you?

Gorogoa

Short but good

The gameplay took me about 2-3 hours. I finished it in one evening. The graphics is nice, but I wouldn't say that awesome. The same with music, or I would rather say with sound, because there are more sound effects than typical music. The best part are the puzzles. The puzzles are essence of Gorogoa and are really well-made. They have proper balance. They are not too easy and not too hard. But two times I needed help from walkthrough on YouTube. The gameplay is really enjoyable and its mechanism is unique. I appreciate also that Gorogoa was developed by one man (like Papetura) - Jason Robert. In my opinion the game is just a bit too expensive, so you can get it on a sale.

Disciples 2 Gold

One of the classics

In my private ranking Disciples 2 is just behind Heroes of Might and Magic 3. In some aspects Disciples 2 is even better - it has more interesting and sophisticated campaign. I would say that both games are quite similar. Yes, there are certain differences, but... The atmosphere, graphics, music, setting, gameplay, one more round syndrome - everything these things bind you on a long time to the PC. Disciples 2 is like mirror reflection of Heroes 3. I mean that Heroes 3 is heroic fantasy TBS, and Disciples 2 is dark fantasy TBS. That's the main difference. Heroes 3 is like D&D while Disciples 2 is like Warhammer. It depends only from you, from your mood which universe you prefer. I think that both titles perfectly complement. Like I said - they are mirror reflections. It's huge disaster that such talented game developers - New World Computing and Strategy First - had to collapse. All because of money. If you want Disciples 2 smooth running on Win 10 try this patch from Verok. He does really good job: https://verokster.blogspot.com/2019/03/disciples-i-ii-gl-wrapper-patch.html
