GWENT: The Witcher Card Game

New and better

A lot of people complain about their preference for the old, Beta Gwent. They say it was better. Imho, this version is better due to several changes which came with Homecoming: 1. The meta was stale, and every player knew which move to expect in each turn, because of tutors and the specific interactions. Now most of the tutors is gone, which means you'll have to play around your goals more, and manoeuvre your deck better. The meta is pretty versatile, and you can see a lot of deck types, which are not easily recognisable at the first sight. 2. 2 rows instead of 3. This was a huge change, but a good one. More tactical options, and the importance of putting your units to the proper row is a fundamental base of the game now. 3. There was not enough room to improve, to develop, to add new card mechanics. New Gwent provides the opportunity for all of these, and the developers of Gwent made a huge progress in transparency about their future plans. The game took the right direction to stay in the competitive business and to lay the basics for future expansions, while improving the game's existing features. 4. This card game is still the easiest to learn, when compared to other card games, however, it is not easy to master. 5. Generous economy, not P2W. 6. New UI, bigger card pics, more transparency. The game is not a tavern game anymore, but represents a battlefield. I know that this is one of the most heartwrenching issues for the players who played the game since Witcher 3 (like me) but we all know that there is already a tavern-ish card game on the market (and it sucks. :D) 7. Some say that the existence of artifacts is not good. I say that there are easily counterable. TLDR: Give it a try. Not old Gwent, but a Gwent with better interactions, visuals and opportunities. Great plans for the game from the developers, which makes it worth even for new players to join the community and the game. Besides, this game is still the most generous regarding the resources.
