Heroes of Might and Magic III is a beloved classic that has captivated strategy enthusiasts for decades. With the Horn of the Abyss expansion, the game continues to thrive, offering fresh content while retaining the core mechanics that made it a universal favorite. To sum up my thoughts, the expansion shines in its addition of new factions, creatures, and heroes, which significantly enrich the gameplay experience. However, it falters in some aspects of campaign design, particularly regarding save game management and quest reliance.
It is a weird mixture of good and bad. First the good: You have a good anime art style, great music, and lots of unlockables. The bad: Overly reliant on grinding, Overly reliant on Items, game gets tedious; especially boss battles. Otherwise this game I would recommend to you get this on a sale if you want a brawler RPG.
This game is the Street Fighter II to Warcraft. It improves the formula in every way possible. Even in 2020 this game holds up well. This game sets gold standard of RTS games. Not only do you get a fun RTS game you get a great story, with great narration, and great cut scenes.
For most part I enjoyed the game, but it felt unpolished. The game play felt sluggish. The UI was clunky. This game much like the original Street Fighter; clunky, and tedious, but the start of a great franchise.
The base is an ambitious project that for most part is well done. My only complaints of the base games are the campaign mission vary too wildly in difficultly. From from super to easy to punishing hard. The only other complaint the is they recycle way too many assets. The expansion is rushed and easily done. The expansion civ powers range from useless to game breaking. The space in the space is re-textured ocean. Finally the expansion campaigns are easily done, glitch out. Such when I win the game doesn't register my victory. Otherwise this game is a must have for any historical RTS fan.
I’m going to focus on the single player aspects of this games, as I usually don’t bother with multiplayer. Over all I have a very mixed opinion of this game. This game is very hit or miss. First let’s start with game play. For the most part it’s alright. It does get tedious when playing longer games. Second this game needs more customization options when comes to map settings. The choices are very bare-bones and it’s difficult to set up the map for short small map matches. Finally if you do happen to really want this game the DLC is a must or the game feel incomplete especially when compared to previous entries. The other big thing I got to focus is the game’s presentation. It is very hit or miss. Some aspects like the narration and some of the races like the humans are done quite well. Some of the other races like the Mershan and the Bulwratithi are just cartoonish and annoying. Plus the soundtrack the game is so generic and doesn’t help with making the game enjoyable. Finally the game lacks immersion. The atmosphere feels so generic and lackluster. These hold the game back on being any fun as the lack polish shows. Honestly I would just pass this up.
My title would be the perfect way to describe this game. At its core the game is fun and just right the right amount challenge. Its main flaws are the lack of refinement. Some of the flaqs include a clunky UI, lack of ability to select a song from the OST, and lack of abilty to build new bases. What it dose well is: provide you great FMV cutsceens, provide a fun campain, and give you a unique setting; with fun charactors and units. If you are some who likes to play Warcraft and C&C; I would recomend this game.
