DUSK

Lovely.

Fast, bloody, some puzzles (find the key etc), some nice suprises, secrets to find and a distinctly creepy horror feel to it. The gameplay is honest - shoot, kill everything, find keys to unlock doors, find weapons, ammo, health etc. Feels really good - you can tell its made by gaming enthusiasts. (I love the loading DOS screen!) Starting the game - boom, its there at the menu, your into the game. Very little messing around. Just like Doom (in a good way). Definately has a good Doom/Quake feel to it, plays a little faster though (you can walk, but generally its Quake 3 speed of play). Weapons are good, a nice spread and not too over powered - a good balance between firepower / health / enemy strength. Graphics are simple, but you get used to this, and its actually a good thing - it simplifies the game somewhat - its all about the action and finding your way thought the level. Levels are not too long either (at least so far, from what I've played). Highly recommended if you like games such as Doom etc. Notes This game palys fast! If you suffer from motion sickness - this game may not be for you. I seem to have developed mild to moderate motion sickness in some FPS games. Gone are the days of hours of Doom/HL/etc. I played Dusk for about an hour and it triggered bad motion sickness - from the speed of the game/turning/running etc. Just something to be aware of. Its worth adjusting the Field Of View a few times until you find one thats best for you, (I also find playing in a squarer format (ie not super wide screen) can help. I had issues with my mouse jittering all over the place to start with. Solution was to turn on my xbox controller (that is paired to my PC) whilst playing. Must be something to do with input devices that the PC has registered (but not being used). Too a while to figure out! Mouse control is smooth and spot on now!

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition

Simply amazing. Buy it.

Never fancied this game when it was released, not one for RPG. Witcher 3 was on offer on GOG, so I took a risk... Oh man, why did I wait so long. This is hands down the best game I have played in a long long time. Everything is superb, the graphics (have a decent PC = gorgeous gorgeous game), the gameplay, levelling , fights, and the cherryon the cake - the story lin and interactions along the way. SUperb story. I am not one to sit through cut scenes, but this games makes you feel like your watching , reading, acting in the most engrossing story ever. I highoy recommend this game to anyone, even you you don't fully feel like its your kind of thing. A credit to the developers, its superbly poilished, and HUGE, huge huge world to explore. And it takes you along the journey, exploring etc in an entirely "adult" way, ie theres swearing, humour, sex, blood, guts, monster, spooky stuff all rolled into one. One minute you can be on a quest to slay a ghostly necrophage, or a gang of mutated looking ghouls, then your freeing a settlement from bandits, recscuing a lost goat named Princess, or retrieving lost ingrediants. Such diversity. And plenty subtle humour along the way, from ovehearing villages talk about their daily lives, whore's back chat, soldiers's rawdy chat. Even cheeky street kids asking cheeky questions. I find myself chukling as me and Roach travel the lands. Then i find myself gritting my teeth as I battle a griffin or werewolf. Simply amazing game! Its recommended to have a decent PC though, at least a beastly graphics card, my Radeaon r9 290 is showing its age, but still manages to showo 35fps at full ultra graphics at 3440x1440 . If you have a more "normal" sized monitor at regular 1920x1080 etc you will find the game much less punishing on your hardware and run smoother. But even at 35fps, its smooth and playable. And looks jaw dropping. whether its the bogs, the open field, forests or the busy dense towns.
