The initial visuals and atmosphere were pretty nice, and I was enjoying the start of the game. When I next start the game up, I cant move my character. So i restart the game from the beginning, as the problem happened on prior checkpoint too, as there is only 1 save game. I start the game again later, and I am frozen in place again. Google tells me I need to turn of "head bobbing" setting, idiot, so I do that. Aaaaand, it worked 1 time only. Uninstalled this game as I will never wast another minute of my life on this buggy disaster. Big dissapointment.
I could not get past the horrendous stuttery graphics, and capped console frame rate, it is unplayable to me. Usually you can configure a game to run well, this only had an option to cap at 30 fps. Sorry I paid for this game, there are so many other available games that dont perform like rubbish, it must be a console port I think? Just be warned, as I am only referring to playability, not the story or gamepolay itself.
I was so taken by this game, it was absolutely fantastic UNTIL the Vale of Shadows. At this point, after the second Crypt, the difficulty went exponential. I had got that for on "core rules" difficulty, but i ended up attempting the rest of this insane level on story mode, which means your party cant die. This is where i found that i would never, ever finish this game, as even with no party deaths, the swarms of wraiths etc are just overwhelming and pin down the team. I commend anyone who has ever got past this, I seriously dont have time for this. I thought my game was bugged at first, but its apparently not. What I do not understand is how I got so far on " core rules", only to be stomped on this level, even on story mode. Anyway, its back to Baldurs Gate for me! I got value from the game, but I need to leave it, as I actually have a life.
I would rate this game as compared to other Indie games, as I think that is fair. Rime is way way better. Hob is way way better. Pine is far worse. The thing with this game is that the beautiful art style is not matched by the overall games design. I am spending so much time backtracking over a pretty huge map, with several undeground sections,, its just unreal that this was not left out of the game, its just not enjoyable. I am forcing myself to finish this game, as a friend completed it, but to be honest, I already have uninstalled and reinstalled it 5-6 times, its so frustrating. If my friend didnt complete it , i would have just abandoned it. Play Rime or Hob , so so so much better!
The most glaring bad thing is the stutter in this game, framerate drops to zero very often. It has no real graphics options , which is not helpful. It really spoils the fun factor of the game. The game itself is not bad, but please can the developers fix the stutter? I have Ryzen 5 6 core cpu, and gtx 980ti, 16 gigs ram, and it can't play without stutter, it appears to be a common issue, even on much higher spec computers than mine.
Im really loving Tower of Time, especially now I'm using the time slowdown mechanic, it is essentiial in the combat/battles, as there is just too much happening too quickly, and you will just die a lot if you don't use it. Great atmosphere and fun, glad I got it!
