On one hand, it's Final Fight in a Robot Apocalypse. On another, it has the limitations of Final Fight without some of the nice move-sets. Graphics are great at the time of release, and the use of melee weapons is a bit of a bonus. I think the greatest advantage is telling your sensitive ma or grandma "It's okay, they're all robots!" and actually getting to mean it. Still, it is small even by arcade standards - 7 levels, and not all of them are difficult.
No, it won't scratch the "Streets of Rage" itch, but it is about as good as Final Fight. The gameplay is as smooth as butter, but it suffers from the genre's cliches. As for the emulation, I'm betting the actual system was a little clunkier, but it feels fine to me :)
