Conquest: Frontier Wars

Supply Lines are everything

"Amateurs talk about tactics, but professionals study logistics." - Gen. Robert H. Barrow, USMC (Commandant of the Marine Corps) noted in 1980 "Leaders win through logistics. Vision, sure. Strategy, yes. But when you go to war, you need to have both toilet paper and bullets at the right place at the right time. In other words, you must win through superior logistics." - Tom Peters - Rule #3: Leadership Is Confusing As Hell, Fast Company, March 2001 There is the art of Battle and the Art of war. A battle, any fool can win, a war requires skill in Logistics. Conquest is one fo the few games to introduce the idea of supply lines and thier necessity in a Real time manner. RTS games are often broken down into Simple, explore, , build, kill actions with very little interplay between success and failure as long as you continue to have resources somewhere in the galaxy. In Connquest, the idea of Supply lines and ammo becomes key as you MUST protect your supplies going to the front liens or else see your units destroyed when they run out. Truly a forgotten idea in modern RTS.
