While this game is quite old, it is still one of the best Star Wars games ever made. While the story isn't amazing, the gameplay is something incredible many modern titles lack. Lightsaber combat in Jedi Academy provides fluid controlled precision that is unmatched in any other Star Wars game (aside from its predecessor Jedi Outcast). The multiplayer remains relevant today, with a very competitive and devoted fan base. While you will probably want to get a modern open source client to play (like OpenJK or TaystJK) with people online instead of using the original client GOG installs, what makes this game truly special is the amount of mods and full conversions that exist. From massive overhaul mods like Movie Battles2 or Jedi Knight Galaxies, which modify gameplay completely and are like new games to themselves, to new rendering engines like rend2 which bring modern graphics and techniques to this classic game, or even thousands of simple new models allowing you to play nearly any Star Wars character. This game also frequently goes on sale for less than $3 and is well worth the purchase since it opens up a world of really incredible mods. Plus even if there wasn't any modding, the original game is still worth playing through.
