To this day, I play this game once or twice a year. It has been more than 20 years since I first played it, but I still enjoy coming back to it. The turn-based combat combined with base building has a certain flair which culminates in a step-by-step approach in the campaign. Liberating "Earth" bit by bit is very satisfying. It is a shame though, that to this day there hasen't been a game that has fully expanded on the groundwork (XCOM has its fair share of similar mechanics, but it is simply not the same!).
