Planescape: Torment

Such a Great Story

I spent a few hours dealing with mods required to make this game work properly with minimal bugs and on a widescreen. Well it didn't work well for me and my frame rate was terrible. But I still gave it 5 starts because the story was so damn good. It took a couple of hours to get used to reading a few pages of text every time you talk to a sprite, whether they are an important character or not. However, this mountain of text eventually paints a picture more exciting and imaginative than the best graphics ever could. This game takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions and satisfies in every way. I also really liked that you could change class at any time didn't have to reload every time you or a party member died like in similar games such as Baldur's Gate. Anyone who hasn't played this game simply must.

Phantasmagoria

Unintentionally Funny

I remember bringing friends over to my house when I was 9 or 10 and showing all the death scenes from this game. They were certainly scarier when I was a child. My favorite has to be when Zoltan smashes his wife's head into the wine bottle. Classic. Replaying the game brought a nostalgic smile to my face despite its flaws. The story isn't great but the cut scenes are still worth a play through. PS. Adrienne is a babe.

Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned

Impossible without a walkthrough

I like to solve as much of an adventure game as possible without using online help. There were countless times during this game that I spent hours driving from place to place trying to figure out what to do. When I eventually caved and checked a walk-through my response was always the same. "How could I possible have known to do that." The great adventures make you feel smart when you think of the solution to a puzzle. This game just makes you feel stupid for trying to figure it out for yourself. However I will say that I found the story to be very interesting and the twist and the end is well worth playing through the entire game. So I do recommend playing the game, just go straight to a FAQ when you get stuck.

Crusader: No Regret™

Remorse is way better.

I found No Regret to be far inferior to No Remorse. Firstly, the AI is advertized to be smarter and the levels more challenging. I played on Loose Cannon difficulty in which I completed No Remorse without cheating. I found that after the first two or three levels the "challenge" became annoying. I would load over and over again progressing very slowly through the game and eventually just decided to cheat and see where the story went. Unfortunately the story had no interesting characters and revealed very little new information about the world. The only positive addition from No Remorse is the new weapons which do offer some interesting deaths. I recommend playing No Remorse and skipping this one.
