art of rally

vroom vroom

Absolute Drift was really good, but too abstract for my taste. I missed the pathos and lore that comes with drifting and which makes it more than just slippery racing. art of rally delivers on the flavour

SYNTHETIK: Legion Rising

german excellence, androids washed

almost a flawless game by a little team from Berlin. Just endless originality and style combined with pitch perfect isometric gunplay. The biggest flaws are with pointing out how the game is meant to be played. Also some more level variety would have been nice.

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind

Sacrifice Cow for Fire Lance

So this is basically a remake / sequel to one of the most unique games: King of Dragon Pass. This is not a traditional strategy game or city builder. You can not micromanage yourself to victory, you can't build a perfect economy, there is no military victory. Its also not fair or balanced. Its a visual novel about a tribe of horse nomads. What sells it is the vibe the game creates. The art, the writing, how the world unfolds ... Its just kinda magic.
