Gamedec - Definitive Edition

Nice ideas, not great writing

I liked the concept of the game and playing it for an hour and a half, I thought it had pretty good ideas all over. However, I very quickly started noticing that the writing felt very often off. Characters kept saying things that made no sense, or they said them in a manner that made no sense. I was quite put off by that and it broke my immersion. Gameplay-wise, the game is interesting. I really like the clue system, where at any given time, a central question is being investigated, and clues can be uncovered by exploring and talking to characters. I also enjoyed the fact that there's multiple deductions one can make, but the game doesn't immediately tell you whether you're correct. I expect that one can fail a case by making the wrong deductions and finding it out after having gone down an incorrect path. I found the dialogue system a bit confusing sometimes, and perhaps a bit buggy. Overall it's a shame because a lot of work has obviously gone into this game and it's well made in many regards (not least of which, visually). Unfortunately I can't give it more than 2 stars after not really feeling like playing more after an hour and a half.
