The Longest Journey

Second Greatest Game Ever...

The first being Deus Ex, of course! Opinions? No. Facts. Anyhoo, the review. I grew up on point and click games with my brother having the first Monkey Island on one of those gigantic floppy disks (ok more like 10 gigantic floppy disks). I was hooked at age 7 or 8. Then he upgraded to Myst which I didn't care for as much since my brain was an idiot and I couldn't solve any of the puzzles, being 8 years old and all. Then something miraculous fell upon me. Beavis and Butthead Virtual Stiff...Stupidity. Anyone who enjoys a good point and click should check that game out. It is my second favorite point and click game and one of the best PC games of the 90s. Fact. On I went on my point and click journeys from The Neverhood to Grim Fandango. Eventually coming to the day I logged into IGN to see a review for a new point and click. The praise seemed universal so I to my long journey to Electronic Boutique and picked up my copy. I could extend this grammatically incorrect paragraph for another 200-500 sentences singing my praise of this game. I beat it. I beat it again. I beat it again, again. I still pull it out at least once a year and play through it. I have never become so wrapped up in a story while playing a video game. Every character is forever in my mind. Just the other day I saw a deformed woman walking through the mall and I said to my buddy whom I forced to play through this game, "Aaapril Ryyyan..." The voice of Abnaxus of course. The resemblance between the deformed womand and Abnaxus was uncanny. Not to sound like I'm heartless or hate deformed people. It's just like seeing someone who looks like one of your friends. You take notice. This woman happened to resemble Abnaxus in more than one way. I'm off the point. The point is, this game is amazing. I've never posted a review before so I don't know when this will post but as of 7/19/11 it's on sale and you should pick it up today. If it goes up to 9.99, you should pick it up. You should buy this game before you buy any other game on GOG. Just ignore the sad dumbed down sequel. Weeell, I guess I can't really judge the sequel...I only played an hour of it but it didn't feel like The Longest Journey and that was a huge blow to me. Anyway, buy the game. Goodnight. I love you.
