I'll get this out of the way already: playing through the game to the end as left me quite empty, save for the solitary desire to want my money back. The visuals and the soundtrack make up a wonderful atmosphere, there's no denying that. The puzzles are quite vague and not as simple to solve as I expected but that just makes it all the more disappointing to defeat... the story had a great setup and the more you read the papers left behind, the more you want to find out what happened in that house, and more consequentially, what will happen to the protagonist (you). Without wanting to spoil anything, I'll just say this: the ending is very underwhelming and abrupt, the story ends far too early and ultimately... nothing... happens. You uncover the mysteries of the house, but in the end, it wasn't all that gratifying. The developers clearly worked very well when they designed the house as it feels quite creepy to traverse at times when the soundtrack changes appropriately. But afterall, they didn't do much with it. All things considered it was not a scary game at all, even if the atmosphere was well done, it was a very weak experience, like they didn't know what to do with the house.
