I have sunk a few hundred hours into this game since it was released and always come back to it. It has a few flaws but is still an overall excellent turn-based strategy game. Pros: -Great adaptation of the tabletop game and rules. -Good story -Great graphics -Deep customization of mechs -Tons of mods. I especially recommend the Commander's Edition mod which adds clan mechs and a moving timeline. Cons: -Missions can get tedious. Most missions will take 30min to an hour. -Not very optimized. Game runs well but loads slowly even on higher-end hardware. The DLC add some nice additional content to the game and are generally worth it.
This game hits all the right notes and is a wonderful spiritual successor to Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2. The graphics are simple and pleasing, the UI is useful and removed a lot of the 'clunk' that you feel when going back to the older games (back in the day you didn't really notice.) The customization is also incredible. I was a kickstarter backer and owned the game since release on Steam. I bought it again through GOG just because I love the game so much and wanted my DRM free copy. Blueprint support from mod.io is a nice addition for enabling cross platform support.
I was a fan of a 90's game called Ski Resort Tycoon. This game brings back a flood of memories from plaaying that game. I played the demo and even though it's seriously out of date compared to now, it was interesting enough to consider buying. I checked out the developers website and they have been actively updating the game with new content so I picked it up. This game is quite addicting and I've already spent way longer than I expected to just tinkering with the ski slopes. I'm enthusiastic about new content. Graphics are pleasant and there is some soft background music. Plenty to lose yourself in. The interface is a little clunky, it reminds me of Airport CEO.
I played Ski Resort Tycoon as a little kid and this game immediately reminded me of it. The demo appears to be pretty old (out of date). It's not very long and a lot clunky. It was still fun enough to consider buying the full game, which I did. The developer has released a lot of updates since the demo was posted and the game has a lot more content. I'm looking forward to the continued development of this game!
