Diablo + Hellfire

The Grandfather of all ARPGs!

I've been rooting for a GOG release of Diablo 1 for many years now. I was really excited to see it there, finally! The game is just about what it was back in the day it was actually new. While the framerate takes a little getting used to, you still get that old feeling you got back in the day. Light radius really does it there. Turning a corner or opening a door can reveal an overwhelming amount of enemies (or if you're lucky/unlucky a huge beast screaming for fresh meat). The GOG release brings a newer version of the game without the screen resolution being messed up but gets rid of traditional Multiplayer (only TCP/IP available). You can still use the regular version for traditional battle.net Multiplayer support. If you're a fan of the original Diablo and come for nostalgia's sake, or if you want a first hand experience of the game that started an entire genre, this is the game for you.

ArcaniA: Fall of Setarrif

Not worth it

This game is a terrible conclusion to an otherwise great game series. I was one of the unlucky few, who purchased the game for a full price when it was new (disk version). The Gothic series is by no means perfect, but it has character and seeing where the story brings you, despite the bugs that plagued Gothic 3, I decided to go for Arcania. Big. Mistake. The protagonist is extremely boring and unsympathetic. The story is completely forgettable and the only minor highlights were the appearances of characters from the previous games. Stay away from it unless you REALLY need to experience the story by yourselves.

Lands of Lore™ 1+2

Trip down nostalgia-lane.

Okay, I can't honestly be really objective since those two games are some of the first I've ever played. Lands of Lore 1: A gem that went mostly uncovered. Nice, if simple, story, the world pulls you in. It can be unforgiving at times, if you don't pick up something you really need you may be stuck forever but overall it's a great experience (and with the guides you can now find online more than doable). Lands of Lore 2: Many people bash on it because of the switch in 3D (that was admittedly not perfect but it was still better than many) and the use of only one character with 2 sub-classes. The story was (to my humble opinion) better than on the first installment and the world much bigger and (even with the lack of decent textures) more detailed. You could find all kinds of interesting things in the most random places and exploration was encouraged. The marrying of video and game graphics may have been in many cases unsuccessful but the cinematics (be it in specific intervals or through the use of those history stones you could find) were ahead of their time and excellent. The 2 game bundle is a must buy for everyone. LoL 3 on the other hand only for hardcore fans of the series (and that only for those who would tolerate a relative blunder).
