You know - a vortex that doesn't let you out for hours on end. This happened to me in the original game, and once I 'solved' it with every glitch combo (alchemy + runemaster, etc), it died. When a stable version with patches showed up on GOG, I tried it, and it just wasn't the same. This Caster of Magic business intrigued me. I tried again with some of the old shenanigans, and they are all fixed and I can get my tactical magic blasting on again. Great balance and rework of spells plus build queues is enough to make this a fun, viable game again. To the bad reviews: 1. The additional DLC for the Windows version I was somewhat miffed at, but native over DOSBox is what you are paying for. I think I can handle $3 2. Bad new tilesets: I like them and can see the map better than the old. There is an option to go back to the old, so it shouldn't be an issue now. 3. Bugs - I'm sure they are there, but I can't find any. I think they've mostly been squashed. 4. Targeting in squares. I think this has always been a problem, and no improvement there.
