Be it the steam version or this one, I've had the game crash at certain points for no discernable reasons. Luckily you don't really lose progress, but GOG should probably make a patch/fix available as an optional download. The game itself is pretty straightforward and simple. A very lite form of Animal Crossing. Gather resources, craft and do side quests. The pace is up to you. You can level of quickly and then beeline to the rest of the map if you want, or stay and develop things and do side quests.
