Oh boy, I can't believe Darkstone is coming to GOG ! I can't remember all the hours I spent on this title when it came out. The graphics were gorgeous for the time (and still now I bet) and I thought a lot about this game when Dungeon Siege was released because they both had a really similar feeling. Anyways, the game is a must-play for every Action-RPG lovers out there !
I can't even begin to recall all the hours I played this game. With my brothers, it has been for years THE game we would play whilst seating on the same bench in front of the computer. The war would wage both on and off screen. Shotgun, ninja rope, Uzi, baseball bat, and even some other things we did not know at this time because we were young French guys playing an English game. All that I know is that I even prefer this one compared to the latter version (Armageddon, World Party for example). Don't judge me, I'm ruled by my memories.
Poor me. I considered myself quite the shooting fan, having made my way through Duke Nukem 3D, Blood and Blood 2 but little did I know that Serious Sam would annoy me. Too much is sometimes just too much and here, I had a headache after twenty minutes of playing. It's coming from everywhere and there is nothing else here but just shoot at enemis in big wide arenas that shows very little skills in level design. But the graphics are ok, even today and if you're looking for some mindless fun, that should do the trick. If you are looking for something a little bit beyond plain shooting, don't stop here.
