Cute, but falls short rather quickly

Bought the game on it's cute appeal & loved the theme. Alas, the depth lacked severely. There is little transparency about the game's mechanics & abilities (tutorial was very plain, rarely went into depth). Nevertheless, after only 3 games the winning strategy became rather apparent: pick the province with the highest population (to get the biggest head-start), prime yourself in giving gifts and influence the "influential patron" in each province. This way, most of your opponent's actions in this province will cost 5 to 6 logistic points (of which you have 10 each turn, can't save them for the next) while your actions will cost 0-2 logistic points. Aside from "raising funds" & "gifting", you'll barely use any of the other abilities until it's time to campaign & sweep. The game is also not adjusted for the maps it's played on, as it takes quite a bit of effort to convince a county of your campaign. With only 15 to 30 turns per game, you rarely have time to convince even a few counties thus leaving nearly half of the map untouched (if not, you're not actually competing with eachother). In short: cute, shows potential, but a quick cash-grab that's easily forgotten...
