Homeworld: Emergence

Amazing RTS (its not even nostalgia)

I never played any of the Homeworld series before this and i must say that Cataclysm is one of the amazing RTS i've played before. The first time i boot up the game (after a day trying to fix the resolution), Cataclysm looks menacing with its UI at first (i just a mere few months old when the game came out, so yeah modern UI really spoils me), but the control is surprisingly easy to master. I came expecting hard and confusing control and find myself loving the vanilla control a lot. The story is really nicely written and you can actually relates with the characters and the options they chose. The stake is real in the story and the characters voice lines and actions really reflect on that. That aside the current game still have some problem. Im not gonna bring up the aging texture and state the obvious ofc. The resolution still very hard to change even with the tools that came with the game. Dunno why but the tool's setting very reluctantly work with my 1366x768 monitor, and i must follow some Youtube guide and open regedit to make the resolution fit and centered. Movement control also sometimes warp around the places when you try to move the units up and down the Z axis. It's probably due to the resolution being stretched above it's original. Other than that on the gameplay side. Some mission difficulty really spiked up to the roof at some occasion, giving the player no room for breathing and consolidating their force. It would be understandable if its nearing the peak of the story, but some spike occurred at the middle of the story. Overall an amazing game. Currently installing the Homeworld remasterd collection since i got them with Cataclysm. I played Cataclysm 1st because im interested on it more than 1 and 2.
