The Case of the Golden Idol

Goofy Aesthetic, Smart Game

I didn't rush to play this when I first heard about it, mainly because all the character portraits kind of grossed me out. Dead honest. However, when I had heard about just how good of a detective game it was, I decided to buy it when it was on sale. If I had known exactly how much fun I would have with it, I would've paid full price. It only holds your hand a minimal amount, letting you do most of the work when it comes to connecting the dots in each scene you're presented with. It was immensely satisfying to go from being completely clueless to understanding every aspect of a mystery. The overall story was also pretty interesting, with plenty of twists, turns, and compelling motivations. Even with some flaws, mainly in the UI, I cannot rate this anywhere below a five for how smart and unique this game is.

The Talos Principle: Gold Edition

Good puzzle game

I like puzzle games and this one scratched that itch for me very nicely, it being filled with challenging and engaging puzzles throughout. The philosophical stuff was fairly engaging as well and got me to think about some subjects in new ways.
