Outlaws + A Handful of Missions (Classic, 1997)

Grab Your Revolver And Cowbay Hat...

"Outlaws" is one of the greatest Western games of all time. Before you think this is just another DOOM clone (which most of those are good anyways), you should not judge a book by it's cover. The story is simple, and I won't give anything away. You play as James Anderson (a very simple name) who was a former Marshal, who must gun down the outlaws that took his daughter, and did another awful thing to your family. On your way, you will find a variety of rifles, shotguns, and tools to help you get to and save your daughter. The game is hard on the second difficulty, so I recommend playing it on "Good" for the first time, or if you're just looking for some fun shooting at outlaws in the Old West. The main story is made into about nine levels, only eight having a boss, or outlaw, that you must beat in order to proceed to the next level. And after each level, there is an aminated cutscene that shows the story, and makes you feel like you're watching some old Disney movie. You will be a variety of environments that are well-made, and the graphics are really that bad for a game made in 1997. The layout of the levels may confuse modern gamers, but there are walkthroughs to help guide your way if you really are stumped by the level design. There are some simple puzzles that don't require too much thought, so don't worry about that. With "A Handful of Missions" you get a few more extra levels to continue after you beat the main game, which will take a few more hours of your time. I give this game a five star rating for simple reasons. The story is actually good and everything about the game makes you feel like you're a viligante bringing justice to the Old West. I found myself playing this games for hours, and probably will still go back to it every now and then. If you're looking for a good shooting game with a good story, and fun gameplay and can handle the old graphics, then "Outlaws + A Handful of Missions" is a heaven for you to play every now and then like me.

The Last Door: Collector's Edition

An Unforgettable, Pixelated Masterpiece

This game is truly spectacular. The story of the game is undeniably well written, no doubt about that. It's a twist between depressing and psychological horror. Some people might complain about the 8-bit graphics, but they are splendid and work well with the game. I'm not for sure if this game would've been amazing without the pixelated graphics. I mean, there are scripted sequences in the game, and with these graphics, they simply astonish my nostalgia. There are light effects, and even with these low-resolution graphics, the game basically works on anything. I have a laptop that is complete junk, and the fact that this game worked flawlessly without any lag surprises me. The puzzles and gameplay are quite simple. Usually you mix items with the mouse, and click on everything! You will read interesting letters, notes, etc. on locations that support the story. This edition of the game includes a better soundtrack, and extras which are worth watching, despite them being short. The thing that blew me away about this game, however, was the fact that I hate point-and-click games. I thought the game looked good, and bought it, and I was correct. I recommend this game for anybody who has the time to deal with these simple puzzles. I didn't even have to look up a walkthrough to solve them! This is truly a masterpiece, no matter what they say. I will treasure it always in my heart, and you should too.

Fallout Classic

A Fun Experience For All!

Fallout 3 was a cool game for me, but when I started to play this old classic, it got me hooked! Who doesn't like a game where you could murder everyone you see? And by that, I mean choices. You could plunder a whole village and sell the junk you got and be rich! Or you could do the quests which aren't games like in present where it shows a arrow exactly where to go. Skyrim does that, but its still a great game. Anyways, the game resolves around like the old Wasteland games did, you are forced out into the dangerous wasteland to help your vault with a errand...well by errand I mean you could save a hundred lives by getting a water chip. But the game focuses on a good combat system which I enjoyed and shows one of the most best experiences. I mean, you won't forget Harry the Mutant? I sure didn't, fighting him took me an hour until I got the jump on him. And who couldn't forget saving the vault and pretending like you hear cheering in the background as you arrive? It might be crazy, but that is what I think of when I do finish something like that. And you don't have to be somebody who plays games all the time, it can be just for a couple minutes and you can still have fun. In summary, a great game which involves a tactical-combat system, leveling up, creating your own story, and having a blast!

Alien Breed + Tower Assault

Grab Your Friend And Shoot Aliens!

For such a low price for two amazing games, that seems like they're giving it away! I had played the new versions of these games and found them to be lacking the experience I had with this old arcade classic. If you love those top-down shooters and also like be with a bud as you fight hordes of creatures with weapons of mass destruction? If you said, "yes", then this game is for you! The game itself includes two games which are old games, so they will be outdated in graphics and that retro feel, but that doesn't matter! A game is not judged by graphics, but by its gameplay, which the gameplay is great! Some might not like it, but this is a great game for anybody who loves shooting creatures with guns with their friends or alone, either way, the two games are great. You could say, these aren't as great as the new ones they made, but for me...I never got interested in the dull story. Anyways, in a summary...great game, shoot aliens with guns, great co-op.

Ultima™ IV: Quest of the Avatar

Ultima Games and their Stories...

Now we all know that most Ultima games are great and well made, Savage Empire wasn't that great but still had some fun in it. Now, Ultima 4: Quest of the Avatar, to me, is a great game. Why? I don't even know! It just has some "old-school" feeling, probably with the pixelated graphics and style of the game, I haven't beat it yet but when I started to play this game I was hooked. I couldn't just stop playing it, and I didn't know exactly why! Was it that is just a great game, even though the controls were pretty clunky? I might never find out, but I can say this...the story is well done. Detail isn't the best, but the Combat System is average. Its a good game if you played, and liked, the Final Fantasy games which I do also love. But if you want a game where you like to "hack-and-slash", then this isn't the game for you. This game has a Combat System where you must actually plan your attack, not just rush in with your weapon like some drunk maniac! So the conclude this review, the game doesn't have the best graphics, Combat System is one you must think then attack, detail is quite low, and the story is quite interesting. Leaving me to give this game, a 4/5!
