Metro Franchise Bundle

Absolutely amazing deal

Go get it. If you like narrative, singleplayer FPS games go get it. If you like post-apocalyptic settings, go get it. Particularly get it, if you're tired of the usual very USamerican/western approaches to these topics and want a different view on them. I always call the Metro franchise the "Post-apocalyptic shooters with a heart of gold" for a reason; the topics are often very personal, they're about caring about each other in a hostile world; and even realising at times that not everything around you might be an enemy at all. I also like the anti-authoritarian politics.

Q.U.B.E.: Director's Cut

Cool puzzles nice story great atmosphere

What I remember the most from this game was it's atmosphere and how it really manages to convey a lot with a lot of black & white cubes and just a few colours inbetween, it's gorgeous! The puzzles were also cool and entertaining and I thought the story to have good personal touches and a nice end

Anno 1404: Gold Edition

Happy Escapism with great gameplay

I recently replayed this game and had a lot of joy with it's still very good gameplay, sure Anno 1800 might be more complex, and in my eyes, even better, but that doesn't make Anno 1404 obsolete in my eyes. The setting in combination with the very, very well aged graphics make it a wonderful experience up to this day.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

Solid, but generic

A pretty solid, but also rather generic third person shooter, the most outstanding thing might be how stompy you are. NGL, I think the gameplay would have fitted an Ork Nob better than a Space Marine, but I still had my fun. The story was overall.......mediocre? Existent? It's not bad in my eyes, but also not really anything beyond serviceable. The visuals are good and for someone new to WH40k probably breathtaking or astonishing at times, which is good! As someone who knows WH40k since the mid 2000s it's......ok? I think it doesn't utilize the setting as much as it could

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition

Personal favourite of the series

The Witcher 2 is really my personal favourite of the series, yes, I like it more than TW3. The diverging story.paths, characters like Iorveth, the overall atmosphere, the thematic "open world" hubs; all of these things really captivated me and got me interested. Rarely had I the feeling of just playing out filler content. Another thing which I always loved about the entire Franchise is the wonderful combination of fantasy and "realistic" medieval art design, gorgeous!

Dead Space (2008)

Great atmosphere, cool gameplay ideas

I personally never understood the hype around Dead Space, nonetheless, I think it's a coold game with an outstanding atmosphere and rather compelling art design. Sadly, I think the story was a let down

BioShock™ 2 Remastered

Personal favourite of the series

Bioshock 2 might be my personal favourite of the franchise; the narrative themes, the characters and how they were written, the dynamics between the characters, how topics like "love" are approached; all of this spoke a lot to me. In terms of gameplay it's also solid fun :)

Caesar

Didn't age well

What can I say? I think it's worth buying if you're interested in gaming history, but otherwise it doesn't hold up nowadays, the controls are awkward and the gameplay not that deep. The pixel art has it's charme though and I do like the midi music

Windy Meadow - A Roadwarden Tale

Pretty decent

I played it just a few days after I finished Roadwarden, but also with the expectations that it's just a smaller tale within the same fantasy world and not the same kind of indepth experience. In that sense I wasn't dissapointed, on the contrary; while the gameplay goal is a very different one, the narrative goal seems to me the same as of Roadwarden; telling personal tales about orienting yourself in the world, among other people, for yourself, how to balance those things and so on. And I think Windy Meadow delivers this just as much as Roadwarden, just in a way more condensed and channeled way. Anyhow, I enjoyed it

Risen

Gothic substitute

If you played Gothic 1, Gothic 2 + addon, and all mods for these two and crave more? Go for it
