I didn't have a console as a kid, I had a PC. I didn't play Mario as a kid, I played Commander Keen. Commander Keen is a revolutionary screen scrolling platformer classic, now available on GOG. Quite a welcome addition to the retro catalogue. Sadly this edition is in fact not "complete" in the technical sense, but I understand where they were coming from as Keen Dreams basically is a bootleg/alpha for Goodbye Galaxy (I never even played it or knew it existed until the days of YouTube) while Keen 6 is a standalone story. In this edition you will receive the focal two adventures of Billy Blaze, which is in my eyes sufficient. My personal rankings of the games, according to narrative, level design, aesthetics and flow: 1. Episode 4: Secret of the Oracle 2. Episode 5: The Armageddon Machine 3. Episode 2: The Earth Explodes 4. Episode 1: Marooned on Mars 5. Episode 6: The Aliens Ate My Babysitter 6. Episode 3: Keen Must Die! 7. Keen Dreams
I played both this and the first installment when I was young. Jazz 2 took everything from the first title and made it, smoother, slicker, faster, better. This game still packs a punch and will entertain all ya old school platformers out there. The co-op was loads of fun for me and my brothers. Heck, if you have a friend that also likes platformers, buy this game because the multiplayer is awesome and multifaceted with both co-op and battling.
