The Excavation of Hob's Barrow

Simply incredible

The graphics, the story, the characters and setting are all great. Some funny scenes/jokes in there too. Also fantastic voice acting by Samantha Béart (Karlach) amongst others. Only drawback is that it is very short and the first two chapters are better than the third. I would have liked spending some more time exploring and conversing with the characters.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Beneath The Stolen Lands

Fun dungeon romp

Early review. It's a simple endless dungeon but the pathfinder system makes it a lot of fun. There's no time limits, unlike in the main campaign, which meant I could spend all the time I wanted. Resting is with camp supplies as usual but you get a free rest every time you descend another level. No slow backtracking either, stairs going up bring you to the outside world immediately. Every level is different, there's several art styles that usually indicate the specialty of the level: lost of lightning, or acid and you know what's coming. At level 28 down I still see new enemies. I played on easy for a first try with a cheese party (5 monks, 1 cleric) and it's hilarious. I haven't encountered any game-breaking bugs, but I'm not seeing any new items in the shops even though after defeating some special enemy I got a popup that the shop sold better items. You find some good stuff in the dungeon, but make sure someone specializes in trickery to open chests. I hope to see some small improvements in future patches: the shops needs to sell better items. A class/build templating system could be very useful if you restart often. The rewards for restarting with a new party seem pretty underwhelming so far. All in all, this is very relaxing to play. I don't like time limits so this is perfect for me. The dungeon levels are not very bug so it's easy to play a bit in between work/life stuff.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition

Amazing game

Long story short: I'm 39 years old and this is the best RPG I've ever played. It's a few years old now but it looks amazing. There's an HD texture mod for owners of nice graphics cards. The world is big and interesting to explore. At any point you can just ride into the forest - which looks epic and creepy - and continue on, creeping yourself out or discovering new adventures. The characters are well-written and voiced and the quests raise the bar for other rpgs. Looking forward to more adventures in The Witcher universe, hopefully in a next version we can choose who to play (there's also a mod for that).
