Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

Wildly uneven difficulty

I'm giving up on this game after a little over 60 hours. The wildly uneven and unpredictable difficulty swings have killed the enjoyment. I can, of course, turn the difficult all the way down and use mods to make the game as easy as anyone would like but that just papers over the problem and removes all of the enjoyment of playing the game. The Heroes of Might and Magic-style minigames are also incredibly unbalanced and unfun - I appreciate that the developers allowed players the option of disabling them completely but once again that just hides the problem without actually solving it.

Nice engine, bad campaign

The engine for this game is quite nice and it makes all of the rules it's using from the tabletop game very clear and easy to understand for the most part. But the original campaign is terrible. The designers apparently believe that your party of adventurers are idiots e.g., forced cutscenes that pull your characters close to the enemy you've been trying to avoid or ambush, camping spots in the middle of fields and underneath a tower that makes it trivial for your party to be ambushed from all sides. I have played computer roleplaying games for decades; I don't choose to roleplay as "idiot with a deathwish" and this game forces you to do that.
