Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon®

A must own tactical shooter!

Where to begin with the awesomeness that is the OG Ghost Recon? If you are at all curious about the Ghost Recon series and want to experience the best version of them all, you must try this game! This is a collector’s item for any tactical shooter fan. Ghost Recon excels in every capacity and is one of the few near perfect games I have ever played. I highly recommend trying the vanilla version and then downloading the mod Heroes Unleashed to explore why this is such a cult classic. **Heroes Unleashed no longer requires Desert Siege and Island Thunder per the latest release. Mod can be downloaded here: moddb.com/mods/heroes-unleashed/downloads/ghost-recon-heroes-unleashed-101-mac-pc Have fun out there Ghosts! "Scratch another one."

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

Great atmosphere, poor execution

I’m a bit late to the Witcher party but finally finished the first game in the series. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite as good as I would have hoped. After 10 hours or so, I found myself just wanting to push through the main quest to get to the end. Most of the quests were boring and tedious and the constant conversations, although impactful for choice and story arc, were annoying by the end. I absolutely loved the look and feel and many of the characters so I’m looking forward to playing Witcher II next! Sadly this one didn’t live up to my expectations. Underwhelming quests, wonky controls, yet stunning atmosphere! Audio/Visuals **** Controls ** Story **** Fun Factor **

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen

Surprisingly Challenging and Fun

My first impressions of this game were sort of flat, but I'm glad I continued exploring this gem. Graphics, sound and story are all about what you'd expect from a game made in 2012 so no major problems there. For me the gameplay and challenge is what kept me coming back. For the first time in many years I found myself thinking of the game when I wasn't playing. (Thinking of new strategies to progress in Bitter Black Isle and how to best make use of new gear, abilities and classes.) Somehow Capcom managed to put together a surprisingly deep and enjoyable game in a typical fantasy setting. Definitely worth checking out. Audio/Visuals **** Controls ***** Story **** Fun Factor *****

Rayman® Forever

Fair vs Fun?

**Disclaimer (I have never played the old Rayman series) First Impression: I went into this game blind, and man this game is misery. I like a challenge, but I dislike games that make you die (to see hidden platforms etc) so you can progress. Visuals **** (nice and nostalgic, but some of it blends together too much; spikes vs platforms etc) Controls *** (not as tight as I would have expected, poor collision detection) Sound **** (solid all around) Story **** (Interesting world, very enjoyable and funny too) Fun Factor * (yeah, this game just isn't much fun for me.) While I know some folks enjoy insanely difficult games, I can't help but feel it takes the fun out of why I sit down to play games in the first place. Endless repetition/memorization isn't my idea of a good time, but more power to those that find it enjoyable. Color me disappointed, I expected a more well rounded game.
