Digital Eclipse is yet to produce a quality emulated product. The emulation is always inferior to free emulators that have been around for years. With commercial emulators optimized for a few games you would expect the opposite. DE's "1080p" is the laziest of upscales with fewer configuration options than you will find in any free emulator. The CRT "filters" just add static lines across the screen. They do NOT redraw interlaced images and look nothing like plugging old consoles into my Sony Trinitron TV. The overall product is about as poor as their Disney Afternoon Collection. The gameplay experience does not feel right. Something is just off to the point where it no longer feels like the original game. Are the rewind and gameplay videos that important to you? I suppose you also get the soundtrack with a GUI and a few videos you would expect to find on Youtube. There is just one good video game in this collection - the Genesis version of a Aladdin. You will have to have specific game nostalgia for anything else to be worth your time today. With the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection DE managed to create a beautiful homage to the games' history that made it worth owning despite the poor emulation. You can't say that with this one. The most glaring flaw is the missing games. Where is Aladdin in Nasira's Revenge? Now that game is so bad it's good. Where is a version of Aladdin Chess Adventures that easily runs on Win10+ with no DRM? I'd buy that. Where is the 90s cheese like Aladdin's Activity Center and Disney's Math Quest with Aladdin as fun extras? How about digital downloads for the Aladdin and Timon and Pumbaa TV series? These franchises have enough products that could be bundled together into a premium product easily worth the controversial asking price. This just isn't that premium product.
