Back in the day, I loved the Kings Quest games and I even loved KQ8. I never understood why people were so upset about it. It was a different type of game but it still had elements of the games that had gone before. It was a nice blend and it opened me up to other types of games. Up until that point, I had mostly played click and walk adventure games as I wasn't so good at the other popular games of my youth. With the exception of Alien Invaders. I might not have started expanding out into other games if it wasn't for KQ8. While I miss the fact that you don't see people making the click and walk's anymore, although hidden object puzzle games seem to be filling that void nowdays, I never felt KQ8 ever took anything away from the rest of the KQ games. Nor did adding some of the puzzle aspects to a third person action game ruin it for me. I found it to be an enjoyable game that I loved as much as any other title in the KQ series.
