Titan Quest Anniversary Edition

A Great ARPG Gem

Titan Quest is a fabulous ARPG which revolves around the ancient mythology of Greece, Egypt and the Far East. It's uncomplicated in its gameplay, whilst containing beautiful scenary, a stunning soundtrack and a vast array of creatures to combat. The skill tree system (you pick up to two 'masteries', which unlocks access to a wide range of skills) enables the player to fine-tune their characters, which accounts for the RPG aspect of the game. Weapons and armour are varied, and many coincide with the skills you pick; their stats can improved through the use of relics, which are tokens dropped by monsters. These relics can be combined together to produce more powerful versions, which bring special bonuses to statistics and are also used to produce 'artifacts' once you find the appropriate formulas. I didn't really create too many of these during my playthrough, and as many 'greater' artifacts seem to require 'lesser' artifacts in their formulas, chances are you'll probably need to either return to previous areas to farm relics or replay the game at a higher difficulty level to create them. My only real gripe is the lack of a penalty after death - you lose some experience points (which you can reclaim once to return to your death point), and respawn back at your last 'checkpoint' (in the form of respawn fountains dotted around the environment). However, I guess this adds to the casual nature of the game - its real strength is that you can pick it up, slay some beasts, complete some quests and not have to worry about failing! High recommended.
