BATTLETECH

Mechwarrior meets X-Com

So, I barely even heard of the game this is based on but I'm always down for big stompy robots. Battletech is a bit rough around the edges, with some light performance issues and some lackluster textures here and there. The atmosphere is great however, just like it was in Shadowrun and it gets you in there with great attention to detail (the Mechwarrior part). Limb damage, tons of customization options and many different approaches to how to take on you opponent. The story mode does a great job of letting you choose how to play with its choises of money vs salvaga and reward vs reputation. I really like this game and I hope it does well. Always remember, chicks dig giant robots.

Little Nightmares

Short but oh so sweet

This is a Really good little game. It does clock in at a mere few hours but the ride does not suffer for it. The design is gorgeous through and through with nightmarish characters and bizzare environments that leads this moviebuffs thoughts towards something like the german expressionism of Dr Caligari. The atmosphere is just as tense and oppressive as the main character is frail and vulnerable. There is a lot of symbolism you can read into if you feel like it, but I leave that up to you.

Never Alone Arctic Collection

Stunning, with shortcomings.

A breathtaking voyage into a dying world. Kisima Ingitchuna offers a magnificent view into a part of the world that was never really documented in detail and certainly now widely known, a view into a story based in the very spiritual religion of the Alaskan natives. As you progress you unlock a short documentary on their culture and an introduction to the life above the polarcirle. It is true that it does suffer from some control issues, lacking some precision jumping capabilities and such, but thats a small price to pay to get to take part of this journey.
