Mutant Mudds

terible.

When Mutant Mudds was released on the 3DS it was still struggling for content. I would debate it still has a weak lineup but it has since improved. People were begging for original material and Nintendo seemed to be content with just releasing old material in 3D. So along cam this new shiny game and reviewers/audiences blew up. It's like handing dust water to a person who just walked 2 days through the desert without any. It's going to taste good no matter what. I call this the Death Jr. effect. You see the psp was once in a similar place and along game the shit fest that was Death Jr and everyone jumped on board. Cut to years later for people to finally admit the game controlled like trying to drive with your eye lashes. Now...why is it I dislike Mutant Mudds? Well I game on consoles, handhelds, and PC. I was not starving for more content. When Mutant Mudds was initially released I was contently playing Super Meat Boy on my PC. It wasn't until the fabulous reviews came out that I first bought it. Here are my initial thoughts that stood out after playing it to completion: 1. Uninspired looking characters 2. Weak and slow level design 3. Only 16 core levels with a few bonus levels. These levels are very short. 4. NO BOSS FIGHTS 5. Steep Price for such a short game Now anyone who has ever played platformers has played platformers loads better than this. Just look up game footage and compare it to the likes of Mario, Super Meat Boy, Earth Worm Jim, Mega Man, Contra, Cave Story, Donkey Kong Country, ect. This game pales in comparison. It has the gimmick of popping in and out of the back ground but this was done for Donkey Kong Country Returns on the wii so it's nothing new. Now what has the developer Renegade Kid been up to as of late? Well they released the astoundingly mediocre Bomb Monkey that most reviewers struggled to give even an average review.
