This is a fantastic game for those who are into or curious about Lovecraftian Mythos. If that is not your cup of tea then it is also always nice to play a game where it is obvious how much developers cared and were invested in making the experience whole. The gameplay feels unique and fresh and is always engaging with a sense of urgency. Even if that urgency is studying for a test or scrounging for money to buy a meal. I admittedly skip through most text files and conversations in games but in this game I found myself searching through the library and the archives for fun. The library card catalog is in itself a testament to the developer's knowledge of weird fiction and Lovecraftian tomes. The horror is introduced quickly but escalates slowly creating a crawling sense of chaos. The protagonist perfectly aligns with the story and mood of the game. Azathoth approves.
Fun, stressful, fast-paced, difficult and overall very satisfying. I really enjoy how the story played out and how that affected the characters. It's less arcadey than the first but this makes sense in the character / level design interactions. I am very happy to say that I wasn't disappointed by this sequel I highly anticipated.
