Some guys are rebuilding PG2 with a complete new and vastly enhanced engine compatible with 64 bit OSes. But first things first. Just stumbled over the gog release of PG2. Thank god i read the reviews before purchasing this release. Miserably me just updated OS to Win7 64 bit. Quite a fail as i see now, cause i can´t play one of my favorite games of all time anymore. It eat away month of my life allready and still counting. But wait there is light at the end of the tunnel. Some guys are rebuilding PG2 with a complete new and vastly enhanced engine. I.E. you can use pioneers to lay and clear minefields, forest ambushes for infantry ... and as far as i know it works on 64 bit systems.
