This is a game that has morphed so much over its history that reviews from anywhere near launch should only be taken with where the game was. This has evolved into a great game thanks to a dedicated team and fans sticking with support. Jumping in now, as I did a few months ago is a bit strange in that things like crafting that seem like they used to be more needed have largely been made useless. There are some basic things you will need to craft, but it seems like everything can be bought at one starbase or another. I'm 350 hours in and running out of steam now to play having gone through most of the available content, but I plan on coming back to check out more in the future.
