This maybe a boon for a lot of you but it sure does fly-in-the-face of "play it your way" as the mod community preaches. Call this a fringe case but it needs to be said that Gog and Bethesda haven't updated this to the Next Gen version yet, and there are a few perks to having said update which has been neglected. 1. It fixes the loading screen bug which takes forever if you cap your framerates to 60fps. Without the next gen update it can take several minutes to load an area, even on an SSD without the use of special framerate hacks during loading sequences. This is a big one for me. 2. Any Bethesdsa Official Made CC content is supported by the Next Gen version. Without it, the engine crashes and will not use it without modifying it in some way which takes a lot of work. I have an Mo2 setup I port this stuff over from. Considering you don't have to learn any API command tricks on Gog to revert versions compared to Steam, I have no idea why this update is still on ice. But it's been long enough and I just want to backup and utilize official CC and Mods without relying on Steam. Part of the reason I even bought this was to be able to play my favorite content if and when Steam or Bethesda does something unthinkable or the internet is not available. At least give me the option to update to Next Gen, Gog. That's all I want here.
It's only got one good thing going for it. It's Batman, and it ends there. Co-staring some familiar voice actors and trademark criminal antics that will get annoyingly old very fast. The most repetitive thing you'll do is collect-a-thon style item and lore collecting while and using batterangs to destroy some chattery teeth for xp points. But, the most damning thing is the highly repetitive combat and movement system. This was tailored for consoles with a very clunky fighting system that is pretty much WB games style two button combat and a self defeating combo system with a few weird enemy types thrown in fure pure frustration. I can understand if this was baby's first console game. It got a lot of praise back in the day by such vivid users of systems and ground breaking graphics before the big 2010's started coming around. I gave up torwards the final fight and decided just to watch a youtube vid of the ending because of how pathetic the buildup was towards the end. I wanted to like it and give it a chance as Gog offered me a very nice discount on the lot of these. I hope the later games fare much better.
