There's no point in buying inferior portraits to what's already free and in bigger number. You can even make your own. @radiojonty what you said makes no sense. Sure, there's plenty of gamers who know nothing about modding. But changing portraits is basically the easiest thing when it comes to mods. Easiest to find, easiest to install. And there's guides for evey mod, they're also very simple and easy to undersand. You'd have to be an absolute toaster if you spent more than 1 hour on installing some portraits unless you're making brand new ones from scratch (drawing them yourself( 1 hour to just install them? I think you mean 1 minute. Artists does have to be paid, but guess what genius. I could get higher quality comission portraits from private artists on dA (DevianArt) for the same price and there would be more portraits than this sad amount. These portraits are so basic and lack of variety, they should be free. Especially since there are far better ones for free. Not only that but artists have to get paid doesn't work in this context. Why? It's quite simple, all dlc profits made here are given to beamdog and a share to GOG. Artists have ALREADY been paid by the company.
I would just like to point out one thing to start with, a lot of the score for this game is a result of low reviews at launch. Since then until today about 90% of issues have been resolved, including the pesky long loading times. It used to take me 5 minutes to load a certain room, now it takes me 20 or so seconds. The vast majority of bugs are gone and there's no more game breaking bugs, the only ones left are very minor. The issues are the only thing that held this game down, so it's totally worth returning to the game or buying it now if you're new. Because with those things gone, this is a fantastic RPG. Interesting characters even though a couple makes you want to punch their face in, least you care. The soundtrack is superb, the story is enticing and arguably the most important thing, the gameplay is innovational. and incredibly rich of choice. In a way that makes it fun but also makes you think harder as to what to choose. Especially if you play on some of the highest difficulties as enemies can get quite ferocious.
This game is one of the rare gems released the last 20 years. The only game that is remotely modern that would rival its story and characters, is Witcher 3. Anway I would like to address something, I would have to disagree that it's best played as light side or dark side. as some people claim. Dark side offers its own rewards in terms of fun and shocking revelations to your companions at some point, which I of course will not spoil. Including companions complaining about you and confronting you with their concerns. It adds more depth to companion dynamics. Darkside has better abilities as well. On the other hand you can form relationships you can't with darkside if you choose lightside. Therefor the game is best played twice, once as darkside and once as lighside. One is not better than the other, it's all in what you will enjoy more, not what I will. But both are fundamentally great, that's the point. Be sure to pick up HK47 he makes the journey even better.
It truly is an action rpg like no others, that does not mean it's vastly superior or anything like that. It's just different. In some ways the combat is similar to God of War though, but it has its own quirks. Overall the combat is engaging and on the hardest difficulty quite challenging. So if that's something you're after, you won't be disappointed. The music is really sweet, it's by the composer named Jesper Kyd whom composed Assassin's Creed 1,Borderlands 2, and Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide to give you an idea. The story is not bad, but not great either. But as a fan of the four horsemen general lore, I had a blast. The voice acting for Death is particularly awesome too. The game is about 30 hours if you do the DLCs, and 50 if you are a completionist. I say this because today several games that come out are way too short and yet they ask for 60 dollars. Here though, you get your money's worth. That being said for a new edition it does not bring a lot of changes. However it does include all the DLC and right now it's on sale for an insanely low price. I would even buy it full price if you're into this type of game, but obviously take advantage where you can.
