I have no idea how the play this game, and the game itself offers no hint. The controls are anything but intuitive, and I got the feeling you'd really have the be into this kind of thing to play it. Hell, I could not even bring up a menu to quit the game - even after pouncing and all the function keys after the escape key did nothing useful. All it did was bring up one foreign menu after another. I finally had to use the Command+Q to get out of it Wing Commander 3? No, thanks.
I really liked this game. It got a little too difficult towards the end there, but it is really a good game. Though it's an Indie game, this game does not look like it was programmed in someone's basement, or was from an independent developer group of two or three people. No, this game has the feel of a well-rounded production. I am usually pretty harsh in my review because some of these developers can't seem to get some very basic things right that would have made every bit of difference. I'm glad to say, that isn't the case here. It's a bit costly, but worth it, I think...
I picked up about a dozen or so of these older adventure games, and this is the worst of the lot. The way the character walks is unnatural and robotic. The UI is awkward, and I never really got used to it. It was as if the biggest puzzle of all was how to incorporate what needed to be done to progress in the game with the horrible UI; using the UI to solve puzzles was the greatest - and unintentional - challenge here. This game is yet another example why I should take the time to find out more about these games before I buy them. If I would have looked up an on-line video of a gameplay review for this title, I'm sure I would have learned enough about it to leave it well alone.
At least the dumbest game on GOG. If this game were free, I would delete it after playing it once. I could analyze how and why this game blows on every single level, but suffice it to say, you don'y want this game. It sucks. BIG TIME. I am suspicious about all these good reviews. I am beginning to think that they were written by those marketing shills that get paid to write good reviews for things that otherwise do nothing to earn them. Knowing games like this exist is the reason I buy games on sale - I know I could get stuck with really crapy games that I do not want to play, and are not worth a single kilobyte of storage space on my Macbook Air. So, to sum up: This. Game. Blows.
The only one I can play is, "Love for Sale." All the other ask my age, or some other question that I don't have then quits on me. I think it's a form of copyright protection. It's annoying, to say the least and I am wondering if it's worth the effort. Even the game I could actually start playing - Love for Sale - I have no idea what to do or why.
My OS X system is a Macbook Air 3, 2 (late 2010). I use OS X 10.9.4. This game performs very well, though the fan comes on after a while. Still, there is no great heat when it does come on (some game REALLY cause my MBA to heat up, but this is not one of them). This games runs fine with OS X 10.9.4, though the game requirements say it cannot run on OS X 10.9. If that is true, then OS X 10.9.4 does not apply. So I guess if you have OS X 10.9.0, you're screwed. But OS X 10.9.4 is free, and you need to up-grade and join us out of the stone age. What's wrong with you, anyway? You are REALLY still using OS X 10.9.0? You know, I should really kick your ass. I mean, come on, buddy, the dinosaurs died 65 Million years ago, and here you are using OS X 10.9.0 when you could be using OS X 10.9.4. OK, my computer may be four years old - and sure, computer years are worse than dog years - but at least I am not still using OS X 10.9.0 like you, you loser... I remember a few weeks ago when I was using OS X 10.9.2. God, so much has happened since then... Where does it all go, hmm? Oh, by the way, this game is pretty good, and maybe you should think about getting it.
Great game, but it's not good for every system. I have a late 2010 Macbook Air (this model is the one that all the newer ones are based on; they look the same, but the specs are different). Performance-wise, everything is great, but the fan comes on right away, and the computer gets alarmingly hot. With MBA users, it kind of hit-and-miss as to what games work the best. Some systems may meet the minimum requirements and still perform poorly (The Witcher GOTY), and some may not, yet perform well (The Darkness II). I use a USB Xbox 360 controller and it works with this game, but the triggers don't work. The game itself is good enough - I used to have it for the PS2. But it you have a notebook (MBA) like I do, and it does not exceed the minimum requirements by a great deal, then it may really put you computer through the ringer. I don't know what is at risk when a game causes a computer to heat up a lot, but when I bought my Macbook Air, it had the highest specs available at the time and cost $2,200. Burning it to death with Rogue Trouper is not something I want to do.
This game is confusing. I have no idea how to play it, though I've been at it for an hour. Those that finished the game - according to a forum I visited to try and get an idea what this game is - do not know what the story is, and there was even a thread wherein people that finished the game offered a theory as to what the story line is. You cannot figure out how the game works because it isn't consistent. A ghost touched me and I had to start over, but I have no idea what it is I'm supposed to do in this game or why. Turn on all the lights? No, I was instructed to turn them off again. Avoid the ghosts? I think so, but they always show up in the room the game shows you. When I attempt to run from the ghost, I'd end up literally hitting a blank wall; there's no place to get away from them. Though this game was well-rendered, and certainly has an eerie aspect about it, there is little be be scared of in this game, but a whole lot to dread. I did a bit of research on this game. Turns out, it was programmed by just one person, so how good can it be, really? I cannot recommend this game to anyone for any real reason. said, it is good for a few cheap startle thrills that get old fast. But jumping a bit because lightening or sudden banging startles you once or twice, just ... well, doth not a good game make...
I caught this on sale for one or two dollars a long time ago. I think it was a special at MGS, or something. My Macbook Air can handle it very well, performance-wise, but I always thought of this game as cheap and second-rate. There's no real meaning to it and it's not fun to play or even interesting at all. If you HAVE to see it, then wait until it goes on sale.
