I remember playing the original in the 90's and it was always good fun, Lo Wang and Duke Nukem.. well duke didn't age that well.. But lo'wang is as snide as ever, I did not realize there was a SW1 (reboot) and a SW3 also. The voice actor is different but I think I read the original guy died. This lo'wang is younger in voice and appearance but I dig it. Anyway the game respects it's origin, it's a straight balls to the wall shooter of yesteryear. Do not expect anything to not involve killing stuff, whole sale, You've really got 2 types of missions, collect/fetch, and elimination missions and they all elimination in reality. The combat is frantic and there are more weapons then you can shake a stick at. You get them at a fairly even pace also, you'll think ah okay I bet this is the last one and nope, they just keep coming, you'll actually run into a problem of trying to decide what weapons to keep equipped in your weapon wheel.. and that's a good problem to have.. You can customize your weapons with gem's which really gives you a lot of flexibility to match your play style. You also have skill/progression system, although I must call out it's weapon upgrade system that uses rare orbs that will have you grind for weeks on end in mind numbing fashion... not good. It almost fells like the game would have been better to move to a fallout style open world. The levels are by far the weak spot, there are only a few levels in the game, they get remixed and tweaked a bit but fundamentally you'll get sick to death of seeing the same areas over and over, the same enemy spawn triggers, over and over. They do change the weather on the levels so it almost seems like it's something new but nah.. not really. The main story is actually very short, majority of the game is taking side missions and bounties, When I first started playing I checked every nook, every cranny, grabbed every crumb I could find, Only later did I realize the chests are basicly random and the only thing that really matters is the boss fights.. so don't feel like you need to beat your brains in collecting every last thing on the level.. most of them you can come back to and it'll shuffle things again, beyond a few weapons mostly you just find ammo/money in chests. Speaking of random, the crafting system is complete garbage in this game, it is in part or entirely random chance of what you actually make, one of the most frustrating things about the game. as much as I enjoyed the combat I was mercifully thankful when the game was over as I had just become numb to seeing the same levels over and over with minor variation and killing the enemies with the same basic strategy.. vanish, attack, vanish, attack. It does have quite a large roster of enemies though some you'll love, some you'll hate some you'll love to hate. What it gets right it gets really right, it doesn't get much wrong, but bits that it does it gets really wrong. It's still worth a playthru and the dialog is often humorous, so it carried forth the soul of the original SW. I did not try multiplayer so can't comment on that aspect, might be good with some friends.. I might still try that before uninstalling. I did have trouble with a error pop up when I started the game but ignoring it I was able to continue to play, no fix found, also had terrible washout the zilla cities wish was partially remedied by turning off bloom, did not affect my scoring of the game since it might just have been my specific setup but worth mentioning anyway. i5-6300 / rx 470 / win10 Game ran great from a performance perspective, 1080p high/ultra everything.

got this game free from amazon prime quite whilte back finally tried it out. I didn't try to play the game it has the same issue as "the thrid" remaster if you don't have gog galaxy installed you can't save your key bindings and game settings (besides display) It also has epic software with it, it does tell you you need an epic account for cross platform play however the 1st time I launched the game it just automatically tried to install, and it will continue to try and run eos_bootstrapper.exe which is an epic component. If I had actually paid money for this I'd asking for a refund and I might as well just submit to the big boys and install their launchers what's even the point of gog anymore? Im not even going to try and work around or fix this game.. im just going to move on im so disgusted with SR3 and 4 and GOG.

Had sound issues from the start, car engine sounds not in sync, this is a common problem I tried all the fixes of capping fps and vysnc, nothing worked. Finally I found a ASI plugin that fixed the issue, but there was another problem the engine sounds was very low compared to all other sounds.. I never resolved that problem because there is also a problem with auto saving and saving settings that aren't display related. manual saves work, why? well apparently the settings are saved using your "galaxy" user account, guess what if you install this game without galaxy using the offline installer like I do then it breaks saving your game settings. "DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play." BS gog, I mean technically you can play the game offline if you don't mind setting up your key config and sound every time you start the game.. but c'mon. Do not buy this unless you have galaxy installed and use it, I don't.. I buy off gog because I want to instill the game and play and not have to deal with "launchers" otherwise i'd go buy off those other guys.

Hilarious game I haven't finished it yet about 10 levels in, definitely some tough spots but the humans reactions make for some enjoyable mayhem, The dialog is often funny, Loaded with horror and action movie references. The speed ability on the zombies is by far the most satisfying. Only thing I can really knock it for so far is all zombies are the same as in appear to be male, even when you turn a female human it still rises as a male which is kinda lame honestly. If you like puzzle games, zombies and dark humor this is the game for you.

I thought this would be some sort of business simulator, It kinda is but really. If you boil it down what it really is, is a collection of mini games inspired by classic arcade games. So you are running an arcade but it's really surface level to the games them selves. I was surprised how fun this game is actually, If you grew up in the 80's and 90's in the arcade You will love this game. You can tell a lot of effort was put into it, a passion project I would say. Lots of little detail in the game, although there are some spots that could have used more attention. I could list some things that could use improving but honestly they're all fairly minor things. Except 1, The controls, different games use different controls, fair enough but remaping your controls does not translate into the game, action key is E, it's always going to be E no matter what you map it to the game will tell you to press E.. this is beyond annoying it's confusing esp when so many games have different control types, so it is for this reason I have to deduct a star. Ideally I would have liked to have seen per-game remapping options, but whatever, beyond that The game is a lot of fun everything in the game is a mini game in it self like taking out trash or cleaning a toilet.. ya you do that. If you watch the video trailer here on GoG you get a really good idea of how the game goes, what they don't show you in the trailer is that the games are playable and there are a lot of them so if you like classic arcade games you're sure to find a couple you like. It also has a decent soundtrack, everything in this game has that 80's early 90's vibe.

I played the 2nd game when it came out and it was okay I really like the getaway/robbery side game. I wasn't sure what to expect in this game, I walked away over all dissatisfied. I am not sure but it seems like there should have been another mode of play given there is a "drop money" and "view score" key bindings but never seems to show up in game play. Game is kinda rough, the main character "Kane" is a horrible, talks to everyone like they're garbage. The story is disjointed and plays out like scenes from a movie, very scripted, don't even bother trying to explore anything, A.I is terrible on both sides there could have been a great squad tactical shooter here but instead you end up ding 90% of the work even when giving your men orders to kill a specific target. It's not all bad though there are a few spots in the game where the shoot outs are well done. I feel like this game had so much potential that was unrealized. You can't skip most cut scenes, I musta watched the one near the end (without spoiling) a dozen times before giving up and asking google how to get past that part of the game. it's a rather short game so like it or hate it you'll not be here long. A lot of the story is just left hanging, your team, Lynch .. so much unanswered. There are 2 endings and I was unsatisfied with both of them. Replay value is pretty low you might play a few of your favorite levels again but not something you'll be coming back to again and again. It's not a bad game but could have been so much more, I don't know if it was time or just poor design choices but it's a real shame it didn't live up to it's potential. PS, I played on win10 and had stuttering freezing issues, look for a fix using a dx8input wrapper dll. It's also mentioned in the gog forum.. shame gog does not have this fix already applied.

So I wasn't impressed with Shadowrun Returns, Draganfall was much improved.. *WARNING CONTAINS SPOILERS* Some of the things I didn't like about returns still applies but a lot of things are better. For one and this is subjective the story was better and the dialog was better written also. Additionally it seems like there are more branches of dialog, and more skill checks. It just seemed to flow better I guess is what im saying. This time around you've got a permanent team of runners.. not much different than the 1st game As you still have to pay your team a cut of the pay no free lunch but the team members give input as you progress thru the missions and have dialog in between so you feel a bit more bonded instead of just hiring runners (which you can do but I never did).. there's even a dog this time around :P Although *spoiler* by the time you get said dog I thought they would be an addition "he runs where I run" but nah.. he just takes up another valuable spot in your 4 runner team so it's cool but ultimately not worth a spot for another member which was disappointing. This time around the story is a little less linear, Missions can be taken out of order and some will appear out of order also, so you feel like you have some say in how the story progresses. Later in the game you'll be given choices.. none of them make or break your play thru but it's nice to see prior choices have some sort of impact. There are a few endings.. based on your decisions. 1 thing I found very frustrating that the 1st game had was when you get skill checked like "decking" and you don't meet the requirements but you have a Decker in the team.. Sometimes the game will give you an option like "let your decker _____" other times it's a flat yes/no check on you.. doesn't happen all the time but often enough to piss you off and wonder what good a team is. Ultimately though this was a much more enjoyable exp than the first game.. Now off to play HongKong.

So I never played the pen/paper rpg, but I did play the SNES and Genesis shadowrun games. This game seems to have take heavy inspiration from the SNES version.. personally I felt the Genesis version was superior. I was happy to see someone try to carry on the shadowrun games.. not that bastardized FPS that was made. I however came away wanting. Don't get me wrong it's not a bad game per'say but I expected more eh.. run's as it was. it's a very linear game, The SNES game was as well, you really only go on 1 actual run in the game every thing else is just along the way stuff. I personally felt the Genesis matrix combat was superior, but I don't necessarily have an issue with the direction they went in this game for that.. I do however take issue at just how little "decking" is in this game.. almost everything can be solved without it and there ain't much need or opportunity for it. You'll do best with just picking a street samruai build as almost everything boils down to gun play. The isometric perspective gives a retro feel and the art work is generally well done. The sound track is decent with lots of reworked versions of BGM from the SNES game. I do have to take issue that when you discover video or even pictures you just get text descriptions, very disappointing. The game is heavy on the text with no voice over, I guess it wasn't in the budget but that would have been nice. The game plays mostly like a detective game although it's completely on rails so there isn't much brain power required to actually solve it. The plot starts out interesting enough although at it's peak it becomes pretty absurd, I almost think the dev's started writing the story and then painted them selves into a corner and was like.. eh.. f'it and just went with it. For those who loved the SNES game you will feel right at home, if you was hoping for a more open game.. neg on that chummer. The devs did make it possible to create your own stories/mods so good on them for that.

Got this as a freebie quite some time ago decided to finally try it. I loved C&C and war(star)craft.. but this.. eh.. this is just tedious.. not only do you have to build buildings bu you also have to staff them to inorder to get anything done. want that vehicle built? well you better have your mechanic staffing the workshop. I was trying to go with it.. but on the 3rd mission another group is going to do a joint attack.. although they're going to go even if you're not ready.. eh.. okay what ever.. I think i've seen enough. Im sure some like this level of house keeping in their RTS games.. not my cup of tea.

Not because it's a bad game, it's not.. But having played the 1st two metro games you come to expect certain things. The game has a few large maps that can almost be taken for open world (they're not but it almost seems that way) It almost has a fallout flavor.. or maybe stalker games (I haven't played) But what I found really disappointing was the stroy, the 2033/lastlight both had psychological elements to the story, this game there it's really absent till the final level and then it's laid on kinda thick to try and make up for it. The story telling has been a strong point in the series and this game has more dialog for sure, but it's really uneven the first half of the game has kind of weak dialog imo. Also characters have long pauses between lines which makes them feel robotic.. more so you will often run into situations where 2 conversations are ongoing making it hard to fully experience. The same system is slightly improved.. but i stress.. SLIGHTLY. You can now climb over things but it's inconsistent when it works, speaking inconsistency the stealth is really bad in this game where NPC's dont' see you when they should and shouldn't see you when they do. Graphically the game looks good though and the day/night cycle is well done (if you don't mind always having full moons for some reason) I found many spelling errors, floating objects and objects missing collision data. It seems as the size of the levels have grown the quality was sacrificed. This is a real shame because this the most immersive of the series. But it was bad enough I had to reduce a whole star.. it's to rampant to be excusable. The DLC's are generally good, The Two Colonels helps piece together late story elements. And Sams story was action packed. If you're a metro fan im sure you'll want to play this but it's got a different flavor than previous titles. It's not a bad game but it doesn't out metro.. 2033/lastlight.. and it doesn't out fallout.. fallout :/
