Cyberpunk 2077

Beautiful and Flawed

I love this game. I spent the week since it came out playing it during just about all of my available free time and managed to get through what I feel is most of it. It's really quite buggy, had multiple occasions where I needed to reload an earlier save to step around a game breaking bug, and many graphical elements had trouble loading consistently. I still love it, though. Driving around the city, talking with interesting NPCs, getting texts that make it feel like those NPCs have lives when I'm not around, and taking in the vast amount of pretty sights. The writing, the art, and the atmosphere all felt incredibly pleasant to be in. I'd be happier without the heaps of technical issues, naturally, but I think something can be beautiful without being perfect. The story went to darker places than I feel like any of my friends would be comfortable with, which is a shame because I'd love to share this experience with more people, but I figured that's why I'd write this review. For all the game's flaws (and there are a lot of them), the things I loved about it are going to be lingering in my thoughts for ages.
