The good? -Hand-drawn art looks great -You can play this one-handed The bad? -Character voices are too quiet, except for brief moments when they get much louder. -The game is short, like less than an hour for the whole game. I didn't realize that because after the pizza guy scene it just dumps you back to the main menu. -The humor is extremely campy, but if that's your thing GO YOU! -The plot is paper thin, however this is a porno... graphic novel. Of the scenes that were there, as limited as these were, I did enjoy them. I do think this is worth purchasing, just not at $9.99. So just wait for it to go on sale. And while you're waiting you can pick up Futa Fix Dick Dine and Dash for around the same price and get five times as much content.
It's amazing how much fun I've gotten out of this little game. Whether it be malicious fun from seeing my patrons die a horrible death on my poorly-designed roller coaster, or the joy of creating a well-oiled theme park. The game runs almost perfectly on my Windows 7-x64 machine. I say almost, because the previews for the roller coaster designs in the construction menu show only the outlines for some reason. Other than that it runs without a hitch.
Please when reviewing games make sure to review the actual version of the game that you are playing. I never played Guilty Gear when it was on the PS2. I never even had a PS2, and that little tidbit leads into one of the problems I had. But first let me say that Guilty Gear X2 is an awesome fighting game. Once I got a match going I found the controls very easy to learn just by repetition alone. The animation is smooth, the sound is good, and the special moves follow the familiar Street Fighter flow. However, getting back to the fact that I never had a PS2, I found the initial interface controls very awkward. I have an XBox 360 gamepad for Windows. This controller has integrated perfectly into any current Windows Vista/7 game with XBox 360 controller support. Guilty Gear recognizes it as just another controller, so the default button mapping is all over the place. I was trying to find the button to pause the game. Apparently by default on this controller it's pressing the right joystick button. Remapping the buttons required visiting the config application and swapping back and forth with the Windows 7 game controller settings, which took almost 20 minutes as I tried to find out which shapes corresponded with each button on my gamepad. Also, while the Guilty Gear config menu lists the large L2 and R2 shoulder buttons as options the actual game doesn't respond to using them. Now since this is a direct PS2 to PC emulated port the game is going to act like it's still on PS2. I found no way in-game to exit back to Windows from Guilty Gear short of killing the program through the task manager. So I will stand by my assertion that this is a great game, but a bad port.
