If you look at the whole franchise, this specific title innovated the most, the rest of the games didnt do anything new and even if they tried to it didnt felt fun at all, like the 3d warms. the AI is not over powered and keeps it simple. this one of those old games that even today I still have fun to play once in a while.
Not much to add here, the title says it all.
The best thing about this game was the way heroes role in an army was executed. Hero had such a huge impact in the battefield that it felt really epic having a high level hero just bossing around. Ofc there was down sides too, the game isnt really perfect. the AI as allways in homm games not really bright.. overall though the game is really good. from all Homm games, this one is my second favorite just after Homm3.
